DG Agriculture predicts for better cotton crop during current year

MULTAN: Punjab Agriculture Director General Dr Anjum Ali has said that due to dry weather this year, better cotton crop would be expected and agriculture department will ensure seed monitoring.
The Agriculture DG expressed these views while talking to the PCGA chairman and other members during visit to Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association PCGA house here on Sunday.
He said that cotton crop was damaged due to the weather shift, but this year the weather would be favourable for the cotton. He said that the Pakistani growers would also get support in terms of rates at international market.

RAHIMYAR KHAN: A 10-feet wide breach was occurred in the Adam Sahaba Minor on Wednesday which inundated hundreds of acres of land and destroyed wheat crop.
The concerned department officials could not reach the site despite reports. As a result, hundreds of acres of land inundated while the harvested wheat crop was also submerged, which caused loss of millions of rupees to the farmers.
ACCIDENT: A rickshaw driver died in an accident here.
The rickshaw driver accidentally fell on a road and trailer coming from behind crushed him under its wheels.

Tens of thousands of cannabis plants are being picked over the coming weeks, as harvest begins at New Zealand s largest commercial medical cannabis crop.
It s all happening on Winterhome farm, on the coast of Kēkerengū north of Kaikōura.
The Macfarlane family have farmed Winterhome for five generations, and sons Sank and Winston returned home to convert part of it into a 10 hectare cannabis crop. It s exciting to be part of, Sank Macfarlane told The Country s Jamie Mackay.
